She spent 20 years on “the dark side” AKA in Financial Services. In senior legal, compliance, operations, and risk expert roles working across multiple sectors, regulations, and jurisdictions. She has served as a lead regulatory expert to global regulatory bodies, and institutions, for Regulatory Technology, as well as financial services regulations. She has advised, trained, and held workshops for major global banks and financial institutions on various regulatory requirements.

Bio – Long-winded Version

Nirvana is a thought leader, pioneer, author, keynote speaker, and recognized global influencer in the Regulatory Technology (RegTech) sector, but most of all she is a teacher and advocate for Humane Ethical Technology. An Industry collaborator, she has an excellent ability to lead, take charge, motivate others, connect people, solve problems, disrupt, innovate, enable and drive to results.

Prior to seeing the “light”, she accumulated 20 plus years of experience on the “dark Side” AKA Financial Services, where she spent many years as a senior legal, compliance, operations and risk expert, working across multiple sectors, regulations, and jurisdictions.

In her most recent role as Global Head, Financial Services RegTech, Risk & Regulatory Compliance Affairs, for Hitachi, Nirvana was the business owner and strategic leader for the RegTech business. She developed, built, advised on, multiple RegTech Solutions, which include areas such as GDPR, California Privacy ACT, and multiple Global Data Privacy Regulations, Regulatory Reporting, Record Keeping, AML, and Data Governance. The focus of her work in these solutions was to ensure that “Compliance by Design” was embedded at the development stage of the technology, to result in ethical and humane technology. 

In 2018 Nirvana worked with industry working  groups to advise on GDPR Data Privacy California Consumer Privacy and various other global privacy requirements. In 2017 Nirvana Hosted and Convened Regulatory Tech Sprint with the UK Regulators The Financial Conduct Authority and The Bank of England, and other participants to make a portion of the PRA’s hand book machine readable and machine executable, the project’s success, lead to the UK’s Chancellor of Exchequer Philip Hammond, making Robo Regulatory Rule books as a part of the UK’s 10 year FinTech Agenda. 

She has served as a lead regulatory expert to global regulatory bodies, and institutions, in regards to  Regulatory Technology, as well as financial services regulations.

As the former Head of Regulatory Reporting at KPMG, she led the business, practice, and development for Regulatory Transaction Reporting. Between 2014-2015 she was appointed as the lead expert to a European Regulatory body on the MiFID II/MiFIR Transaction Reporting Technical Standards, and Instrument Reference Data Standard, as well as writing the approach for their consultation paper. 

She has advised, trained and held workshops for major global banks and financial institutions on various regulatory requirements.

Her unique vision and expertise finds Nirvana constantly working closely with global regulators and industry working groups. Nirvana is regularly asked to participate and contribute to regulatory, and industry initiatives. With her background in technology, financial services, Law, Politics and economics, she is a commentator on global socio-economic impacts of issues such as COVID 19, Brexit, Recession implications from a RegTech, regulatory compliance, operations risk, security and audit lens.

She provides training to a broad spectrum of industry stakeholders, including global investment banks, Asset Managers, Trading Venues, Regulators, and Members of the European Parliament, and Academic institutions such as Kings College University London. She has published various industry articles, co-authored the RegTech book, and currently penning a new title, and presents at numerous industry and client round tables, webinars, podcasts, amd workshops.  Nirvana regularly speaks at high profile conferences in relation to her specialist area of expertise. 

Nirvana is also a Founding Member, of the Committee to Establish the RegTech Council, Member of the MIT Global review Panel, and San Diego Chapter Head for disruption disciples, and sits on the Industry Advisory Board of Ascent Technologies, a RegTech Company, and Advisory Board Member to Compliance.ai.
